About Us

AVEVENA

is a non-profit organization founded in April 2002 in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It began its work in Uvira Territory, South Kivu. The organization supports vulnerable children, including malnourished, unaccompanied, refugee, displaced children, and former child soldiers. AVEVENA DR Congo also carries out social development projects and peace-building activities in conflict-affected communities.

Ending Gender-Based Violence in Schools

We believe that every girl deserves to learn in a safe, respectful, and empowering environment. Yet, many girls face Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in schools, affecting their confidence, education, and future opportunities.

Designed With Communities, For Communities.

collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. We partner closely with communities to co-create solutions that respond to real needs and lived experiences Together, we design and implement programs that protect the most vulnerable

Where opportunity meets the soil

Empowers women, youth, and underserved communities to unlock their potential through agriculture. We provide hands-on training in sustainable farming, introduce climate-smart techniques, and connect farmers to reliable markets

SECTOR OF INTERVENTION

Community-Led Solutions

We gather around the table with community leaders and youth to co-design every project. This ensures our programs in protection and empowerment are grounded in the real needs of those we serve.

Care About Next Generation

By partnering with schools and local youth groups, we provide the mentorship, life skills, and safety networks necessary for young people to reach their full potential. When we invest in our youth we are securing the future.

Vocational Training

conomic resilience is a powerful shield. By mastering a trade, these women gain the financial independence necessary to support their families, send their children to school, and lead with confidence.

Building Bridges

We believe that empowerment isn't just about programs, it’s about people. Our strength lies in our diversity, bringing together community members, local experts, and dedicated partners to create a unified front for child protection and gender justice.

Breaking the silence

Protection is at the core of everything we do. At AVEVENA, we facilitate brave spaces where community members—men, women, and youth—engage in critical dialogues about gender justice and safety.

Protecting Rights

By providing children with the information they need and building a support network of teachers and parents, we are creating a culture of protection. We don’t just advocate for change; we equip the next generation to be the agents of that change.
